High Atlas Mountains Tour – Itinerary

30% of this tour is offroad and all the tracks we have chosen are ideal for the Cimatti motorbikes. Nothing too technical and no deep sand or ‘feshfesh’. The 70% asphalt sections are 99% country roads with little traffic.
Day of arrival
Pickup from the airport and a 30-minute transfer to our hotel located 20KM outside Marrakesh, on the outskirts of the High Atlas. A quiet harbor in the heart of nature, marked by a magical environment and a peaceful atmosphere. Enjoy the afternoon by the pool, dinner and general briefing at the hotel at 20.00 hrs.
Day 1 – Marrakech to Demnate (128 km)
Morning – Off-road through the olive groves
Breakfast by the pool at 08:00, then meet your bikes and get a quick introduction. (Optional training day available for less experienced riders.) We start off-road through the olive groves near Marrakech, heading toward the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Along the way, enjoy green valleys, wheat and olive fields, and charming Berber villages. Stop for your first mint tea at a local café in Tidli Mesfior.
Afternoon – Scenic on-road ride to Demnate
After lunch in Touama at a typical Moroccan roadside café, we continue on winding asphalt roads through the Atlas Mountains. Arrive in Demnate around 16:00, giving you plenty of time to relax by the pool and enjoy the hotel facilities.
Day 2 – Demnate to Ouzoud (81 km)
Morning – Off-road through valleys
Breakfast at 08:00, depart 09:00. After a short ride on asphalt through Demnate, we hit the dirt! Today’s trails are a mix of wide, winding tracks and narrow forested paths with stunning views. Along the way, you’ll often see local children playing football or in the river, a charming glimpse of daily life.
Afternoon – Ouzoud Waterfalls
We continue toward Ouzoud Falls, with open, dusty tracks and spectacular scenery. Stop at the falls for lunch with a view, then take an optional walk along the ravine to discover more waterfalls, local campsites, and shops. On the way back to the hotel, keep an eye out for the mischievous Barbary apes!
Day 3 – Ouzoud to Zouit Ahansal (165 km)
Morning – From Ouzoud to Lake Views
Breakfast at 08:00, depart 09:00. Leaving the waterfalls behind, we head deeper into the Atlas Mountains with breathtaking views over Bin el Ouidane Lake. Passing through the village of Ouaouizerth, this is the last chance to refuel before a few days with no stations.
Afternoon – Geopark of M’Goun & Zouit Ahansal
Riding along the eastern side of the lake, we climb back into the mountains toward the Cathedral Rock. Lunch is in Imsfrane before a 25 km stretch through the Geopark of M’Goun, a UNESCO World Heritage site, with incredible panoramic views. The track ascends through pine forests to 1,800 m before descending to the asphalt near Zouit Ahansal. Tonight, we stay in a beautiful mountain-lodge style hotel with a terrace to relax and a large nearby kasbah to explore.
Day 4 – Zouit Ahansal to Demnate (165 km)
Morning – Mountain Passes
Breakfast at 08:00, depart 09:00. We leave Zouit Ahansal and ride through two high mountain passes above 2,000 m, the highest at 2,750 m. The morning route is smooth asphalt, climbing above the tree line with panoramic views across the Atlas Mountains. Berber villages dot the hillsides, and you’ll see locals tending their goats and sheep. Along the way, a dramatic rock escarpment stands out as one of Morocco’s top climbing sites. The route continues through the lush Palmeraie of the Ait Bouguemez Valley, riding past apple orchards, cereal fields, and bustling village life, with friendly locals and their animals all around.
Afternoon – Lunch with a Local Family & Ride to Demnate
After reaching the village of Tamernout, we enjoy a traditional lunch with a Berber family. The route there is a winding 22 km asphalt track through pine forests with spectacular drop-offs into the river valley below. Following lunch, we continue our ride back to Demnate, arriving at a different hotel than Day 1, giving you a new perspective of the valley and mountains as the day winds down.
Day 5 – Demnate to Marrakech (129 km)
Morning – Scenic asphalt back to Touama
Breakfast at 08:00, depart 09:00. We leave Demnate and head back towards Touama on the same scenic twisty asphalt road through the mountains that we enjoyed on Day 1. It’s a familiar route, but still stunning, with great views of the surrounding valleys and Berber villages along the way. This time, instead of stopping for lunch in Touama, we continue with a picnic prepared for us to enjoy in a peaceful spot.
Afternoon – New tracks to Marrakech
After our picnic, we continue on a different section of road and off-road tracks that we haven’t ridden before, winding through pine forests and mountain scenery. Eventually, we make our way back to the hotel near Marrakech where the tour began, giving you a final chance to soak in the views and reflect on an unforgettable week of riding.
