Cimatti Scrambler 125cc & Bobber 50cc
The Cimatti Scrambler 125cc is a great choice for riders with some off-road experience, offering a comfortable ride, solid handling, and the ability to tackle a variety of terrain.
The Cimatti Bobber 50cc, tuned to 125cc, delivers the same performance as the Scrambler while keeping a low seat height — perfect for shorter riders or those who prefer feeling more grounded.
Both bikes are safe, reliable, and capable of long off-the-beaten-track adventures thanks to their fuel capacity and rugged design.
Desert Rats maintains a fleet of 7 Scramblers and 5 Bobbers in top condition with our own mechanic.
Licensing requirements:
-
Scrambler 125cc: a full motorcycle licence is required.
-
Bobber 50cc (tuned to 125cc): a normal car licence is required.
SOME RIDING EXPERIENCE IS RECOMMENDED FOR BOTH BIKES.
Outdooractive and Quad Lock
Outdooractive is the smartphone app we use for navigation during your tour. Desert Rats will provide you with a smartphone ready to go. This way, you don’t have to worry about getting lost, and you can ride at your own pace while stopping to take photos whenever you like!
Every bike is equipped with a Quad Lock mount with a dampener to securely hold your phone for easy navigation. Don’t worry, the phone won’t fall off. A USB charger is also attached to the handlebars to keep your phone powered throughout the ride.

From Docker Apollos to Cimatti Bikes
The Docker Apollo was the first bike we used during the early years of Desert Rats tours. Tough, resilient, and great fun, they made off-road adventures accessible and exciting.
Since summer 2025, we’ve upgraded to Cimatti Scramblers 125cc and Cimatti Bobbers 50cc (tuned to 125cc). These bikes are safer and more comfortable, with proper gearboxes, better suspension, and improved brakes, all while keeping the adventurous spirit of the Dockers.
John’s view:
I’ve led 500+ tours over 25+ years on top-end bikes. The Dockers were tricky at first, reversed gearbox, less power, but tough and surprisingly fun once you got used to them. Perfect for exploring rivers, valleys, dunes, and stopping for mint tea with locals.
The Cimatti’s take it to the next level: safer, smoother, and even more enjoyable, without losing any of the adventure. You get all the fun of off-road riding while focusing on the scenery, culture, and the experience itself. Truly a Desert Rats ride!
Whether you’re exploring riverbeds, valleys, or dunes, our Cimatti bikes offer the perfect balance of comfort, safety, and adventure.
